For the first half of 2023, a trade turnover of 3.515 billion euros was realized, a growth of 1.6%. Exports worth 1.784 billion euros and a drop of -5.3%. Imports at the amount of 1.732 million euros and a growth of 9.9%.

  1. Italian investments in Bulgaria

By the end of the first half of 2023, according to BNB statistics, direct foreign investments from Italy in Bulgaria will total EUR 2.901 billion, which puts the country in 8th place in terms of direct foreign investments in our country / after the Netherlands, Austria, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Greece and Switzerland/.

  1. Contractual legal basis

1) Open-ended payment agreement dated 25.02.1958;

2) Open-ended agreement for the development of economic, industrial and technical cooperation. between Bulgaria and Italy, signed on 24.12.1966.

3) Agreement on cooperation in the field of tourism, signed on 4.12.1970, in force since 1972.

4) Intergovernmental agreement for the avoidance of double taxation, signed on 21.09.1988, in force from 01.06.1991;

5) Agreement between the governments of Bulgaria and Italy on the rescheduling of the foreign debt of Bulgaria, signed on 18.12.1992, in force from 09.01.1993;

6) Agreement on cooperation between BSK and the Italian confederation of industrialists CONFINDUSTRIA, signed on 15.10.1998;

7) Cooperation agreements between the BCCI and the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade (ISE) Rome, and the Chambers of Commerce in Vicenza, Trieste, Udine, Gorizia and the Association of Young Entrepreneurs (ACSO-44).

8) Memorandum of Cooperation between the Executive Agency for the Promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises and the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade (January 17, 2007 signed)
