Information on the cheapest products will be available in a section of the Ministry of Economy website
The Ministry of Economy’s latest initiative for cheaper staple food products in shops – “Affordable for you” – is to be launched on 1 November. This is what Bogdan Bogdanov, Minister of Economy, said in the programme “Face to Face”.
The idea is for large and smaller grocery chains to voluntarily reduce prices on 2-3 products from 9 food groups.
Roughly speaking, the products are about 50 in the groups of bread and bakery products, meat and meat products, milk and dairy products, fruits and vegetables, the economy minister said.
Grocery stores that participate in the initiative will submit information each week to the Ministry of Economy about the products they will offer at a lower price. People will be able to get information from a section on the ministry’s website. The products on the stands will have a sticker with a special sign – a basket.
Those who join will commit that the price reduction will not be at the expense of other participants in the supply chain, Bogdanov added.
