Deputy Prime Minister for EU Funds Management Atanas Pekanov and Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Yanko Topalov took part in the opening of the International Seminar “The Aspirations of the New EU Member States to Join the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)”.
“The successful and timely completion of the OECD accession talks will undoubtedly further enhance Bulgaria’s path towards sustainable economic development,” Deputy Minister Topalov said. According to him, it will provide greater recognition of the stability and potential of the Bulgarian economy and will make Bulgaria more visible and attractive to investors. He added that at the end of this process we will have a more competitive national economy, a more efficient and modern public administration.
Deputy Minister Topalov underscored the leading role of the seminar, which sheds light on the reforms and steps that are needed in the process of joining the OECD. He added that this is one of the key priorities in the economic sphere for Bulgaria and expressed his gratitude to all the experts who are working in order to meet the necessary criteria to realize the country’s membership in the organization.
The event is organized by the Economic Policy Institute with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in our country. The opening of the international seminar was attended by H. E. Lee Ho-shik, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea in Bulgaria.
