A German meat-processing company will be looking for suitable locations to open a production base in Northern Bulgaria. Specific opportunities will be investigated in the towns of Montana, Tyrgovishe, Shumen, Ruse, Pleven, and Razgrad. That has been announced following a meeting between the CEOs of the company and the Minister of economy Bojidar Loukarsky, which was held earlier today.
The German investor indicated their intention to implement the investment in Bulgaria during Minister Loukarsky’s visit in Germany in March. The company processes meat for the needs of the food industry and currently operates on the markets of Germany, Spain, Hungary, Slovenia, Romania, and others. The company’s plans are to establish a production base in Bulgaria, which would initially open between 60 and 80 news jobs and subsequently increase to 130.
Following the initial statement of intent on part of the investor Minister Loukarsky formed a team from the Ministry of economy with the task of identifying suitable locations – former meat-processing factories and plots that meet the standards of the German company. Following that, representatives of the company have arrived to explore the opportunities first hand.
“I hope that soon we will have some positive news and will have the chance to announce that a suitable location for the investment has been identified”, said Minister Loukarsky at the meeting with the investor. The team that has been formed by the minister has also prepared a list of chicken breeders in Northern Bulgaria that could potentially become suppliers to the investor. The German company plans on supplying its resources locally, which would create additional indirect employment. The production will be destined entirely for export purposes, with the key market for all Bulgarian produce being Romania.
The CEOs of the company along with representatives of the Ministry of Economy will be touring until the end of the week. Meetings with representatives of the local governance and Invest Bulgaria Agency will also be held.
