The company has chosen to manufacture its innovative product in Bulgaria, a move expected to create new jobs at the local factory
In partnership with the Bulgarian manufacturer “Ireli”, the German company Qeridoo GmbH, based in Mönchengladbach, is starting production of a new product – an innovative Montessori-style wooden learning tower for children. With the assistance of Mrs Rositsa Ivanova, Head of the Trade and Economic Affairs Office (STIV) in Berlin, a Bulgarian partner was identified – an experienced producer of wooden goods. Production of the innovative product will be carried out entirely in Bulgaria, with an annual output of between 70,000 and 200,000 units. At present, the Montana factory employs 70 people, with expectations that the workforce will grow to around 300.
This became clear during the announcement of the partnership between Qeridoo GmbH and the Bulgarian factory in the city of Montana. Over the years, Ireli, a Bulgarian manufacturer of wooden children’s toys, has built modern production facilities with innovative processes, enabling it to create wooden toys of exceptional quality. The launch of the new partnership was attended by Ivan Ivanov and Ivo Trendafilov, co-owners of “Ireli”, as well as Mr Nikolai Boldt, owner of the German company.
The company opted to move production of its innovative product to Bulgaria, instead of China, thereby taking an important step towards greater manufacturing security and sustainability.
At the Montana factory, a unique learning tower made of natural materials will be produced. It can be flexibly adapted to the needs of children: serving as a sturdy chair for babies and later transforming into a tower that grows with the child, allowing them to learn, explore and engage with the world around them.
“We are convinced that this wooden learning tower has the potential to be found in almost every German household with children in the future. This is an important step towards sustainable European production and a contribution to ensuring our children grow up healthy, safe and creative,” said Mr Nikolai Boldt, owner of the German company
Ivan Ivanov, founder and co-owner of “Ireli”, announced that the new product will lead to an increase in jobs at the Montana factory.
In 2023, the product won an award for best design, after which the company sought a suitable manufacturer. “Once such a partner was found in Bulgaria, we are confident that next year the product will also win an award as best overall product,” said Rositsa Ivanova, Head of the Trade and Economic Affairs Office at the Embassy of Bulgaria in Berlin.
Qeridoo GmbH is expanding its portfolio with this innovative piece of furniture for learning and play – the wooden learning tower – which has the potential to become widely popular. Thanks to the company’s well-established distribution network, which already supplies almost all major retail chains in Germany, the tower is expected to achieve wide market reach within a short period of time.
Qeridoo GmbH is the market leader for children’s bicycle trailers in Germany. With a strong focus on safety, quality and innovation, the company develops products that support and enrich family life. It sees enormous potential for growth in the coming years and expects this new product to help shape the world of children’s play and learning in a more sustainable way.
