A company from the plumbing sector is planning a EUR 50 million investment in a new plant in the country
Spanish companies have so far invested nearly EUR 900 million in our country. This became clear during a meeting between the Minister of Economy and Industry Nikola Stoyanov and the State Secretary of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism of the Kingdom of Spain Xiana Mendes. They discussed measures to promote trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.
‘Spain is certainly one of the countries in the European Union with which we have the greatest untapped potential,’ Minister Nikola Stoyanov stressed. In his words, one of the steps to change this is to organise more bilateral meetings between businesses. He thanked the Spanish ministry for its support in organising the joint business forum, which was attended by dozens of companies yesterday. The Secretary of State stressed that Bulgaria is a strategic partner with the potential to seriously increase economic cooperation. ‘We know that many Spanish companies are already doing business in Bulgaria and are looking for opportunities to increase their presence in your country,’ she said. During the meeting, Xiana Mendes presented the priorities of the upcoming Spanish Presidency of the Council of the EU, which starts on 1 July.

The company produces pipes for the water sector and plans to open a plant in the country, with production to be sold in the Balkan countries. During the conversation it became clear that the strategic position of the country was the main reason for the decision and the investor has already purchased land in the country for his project.
Indra, the largest high-tech and innovation company in Spain, is looking for opportunities for new projects in Bulgaria. This was stated during the Minister of Economy’s visit to their headquarters in Madrid. They presented their activities in transport, air traffic, defence and innovation. Over the years they have implemented several projects in our country, but they are also interested in cooperation with Bulgarian companies in international tenders and projects.
Spanish companies from the defence industry are interested in cooperation with Bulgarian partners to implement joint projects under the European Defence Fund. This was discussed at a meeting between Minister Nikola Stoyanov and the President of the Spanish Technological Association in Defence, Security, Aeronautics and Space TEDAE Ricardo Marti Fluxa. Minister Stoyanov invited leading Spanish companies from the sector to visit the country and get acquainted with the opportunities of the Bulgarian military-industrial complex and to discuss in more detail specific areas of partnership.
During his visit to Madrid, Minister Stoyanov also visited the headquarters of Enagas. The company has been an international reference for the construction, maintenance and management of gas infrastructures for 50 years. During the talks, it became clear that they have a concrete interest in the implementation of two projects in Bulgaria, but they are still in the exploratory phase and will visit our country to detail all aspects of their future plans.
