The Ministry of Economy and Industry is participating in a national discussion on the development of handicrafts, and in particular the arts and crafts in Bulgaria. The event was organized by the Regional Craft Chamber — Plovdiv.
Experts from the Ministry of Economy and Industry presented the ‘European Awards for Entrepreneurship Promotion’ competition, of which MEI is the coordinator for Bulgaria.
During the meeting, the impact areas and measures to support the creative industries, in particular crafts, of the National Strategy for Small and Medium Enterprises 2021—2027 were presented. The measure is reflected under the programme ‘Competitiveness and Innovation in Enterprises’ 2021—2027.
During the discussion issues related to craftsmen in Bulgaria were discussed, the difficulties they encounter in the implementation of the legislation, the current state of the chambers of craftsmen, as well as good practices.
The event was attended by Toni Simidchieva — member of the Board of RCC-Plovdiv, Plamen Panov — Deputy mayor of ‘Culture, Archaeology and Tourism’ of Plovdiv Municipality, Irena Todorova — Chairperson of the Regional Centre for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Southeast Europe under the auspices of UNESCO, Emil Vasilev — representative of the Koblenz Crafts Chamber, Ivan Vlaev — President of the National Crafts Chamber, representatives of the Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Innovation and Growth, Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, etc.
The event is held within the framework of the project ‘Crafts — Heritage and Future’, realized in partnership with the Municipality of Plovdiv, the Regional Centre for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Southeast Europe under the auspices of UNESCO, the National Chamber of Crafts and the cultural club ‘Rhodope Progress’ in the village of Sitovo.
