Minister Bogdanov and the Ambassador of Egypt Discussed Cooperation in the Field of High Technologies

The Minister of Economy and Industry Bogdan Bogdanov and the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt H.E. Khalid Emara discussed opportunities for deepening economic cooperation in the automotive and high-tech sectors. During the talks the two emphasized the intensification of the Bulgarian-Egyptian relations in recent years and the search for ways to further strengthen them.

Minister Bogdanov and the Ambassador of Egypt discussed cooperation in the field of high technologies. Minister Bogdanov and Ambassador Emara also talked about opportunities for cooperation between companies from the Arab world and Europe. Bulgaria has an important place in the EU’s exports to the Arab countries and specifically to Egypt. According to the statistics for 2022, Bulgaria’s exports to Egypt have increased by over 100% compared to the data for 2021, it became clear during the meeting.

Minister Bogdanov briefed Ambassador Emara on Bulgaria’s two key priorities — Schengen and the euro area membership. He stressed that the Ministry of Economy and Industry aims to inform Bulgaria’s key economic partners around the world about the benefits of our accession to the Schengen area and the adoption of the euro by the end of 2024.

The Egyptian ambassador informed the minister of economy about his country’s readiness to send seasonal workers not only in tourism but also in sectors such as industry and high technology. They also focused on the prospects for education of Egyptian citizens in Bulgaria.

At the meeting, the Minister of Economy and Industry and the Egyptian Ambassador to Bulgaria also discussed the opportunities for Bulgaria’s participation in the Arab Food Security Conference and Exhibition this year.
