The Minister of Economy and Industry Bogdan Bogdanov and representatives of Sofia Municipality, Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works, Road Infrastructure Agency and National Company of Industrial Zones discussed the possibilities for financing and taking urgent actions on the construction of road infrastructure to provide another transport access to the Industrial Park Sofia-Bozhurishte.
“Building a new link to the park is a priority,” Minister Bogdanov said. He stressed the need for a second transport access to the Industrial Park to ease traffic and logistics for companies operating there. “For years this has not been happening. Trucks wait 40 minutes to get out of the zone. We have received numerous complaints from investors that they are being inconvenienced,” he said.
According to him, over the years, the industrial park has attracted mainly logistics investments, but there is no proper conducting road infrastructure. “There is a need for at least two accesses to the park to alleviate heavy truck traffic,” he said.
It became clear at the meeting that despite a tripartite agreement signed in 2021 and approved by the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works in 2022 between Road Infrastructure Agency, Municipality of Sofia and National Company of Industrial Zones for the implementation of specific projects and activities to ensure transport access to the park, no measures have been taken and no action has been initiated to implement it.
During the meeting concrete steps have been identified such as the preparation of an up-to-date analysis of traffic to and from the town. of Bozhurishte, preparation for the activities launch for the preparation of the draft master plan, including communication and transport plans, as well as opportunities for providing funding to find the best solution for the investors in the Industrial Park and for the citizens of the municipality of Bozhurishte, easing the industrial traffic.
