Minister Bogdanov held talks with the Ambassador of Turkey to Bulgaria H. Е. Eileen Sekizkök

The Minister for Economy and Industry Bogdan Bogdanov met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in Bulgaria H. Е. Eileen Sekizkök They discussed the high level of economic relations and the new opportunities for development between the two countries. The conversation at the Ministry of Economy and Industry took place on the occasion of the end of Ambassador Sekizkök’s mandate.

During the meeting H.E. Eileen Sekizkök thanked Minister Bogdanov for his work, which has contributed to increasing bilateral trade and mutual investments, as well as for creating an environment in which Turkish businesses feel comfortable.

‘We have reached a point of very good economic relations. Now it is time to map out steps that will yield even better results’, the economy minister said. He recalled the implementation of the priority investment project for the Bulgarian government in the Alkomet aluminium plant.

During the meeting H.E. Eileen Sekizkök presented the upcoming important economic events and forums that will be held in Turkey and in Bulgaria until the end of the year and invited the Ministry of Economy and Industry and the Bulgarian business to participate in them. She noted that Bulgaria has well-developed hi-tech companies in the sectors of automotive and space sciences. According to the words of H. Е. Eileen Sekizkök Turkey is interested in implementing joint projects in these areas.

The Minister of Economy and the Turkish Ambassador also discussed the environment for Turkish investors in our country. During the meeting Mr Bogdan Bogdanov announced that Bulgaria’s efforts to reduce the administrative burden for foreign investors will continue. He recalled the creation of two new industrial zones in Varna and Burgas and said that the Bulgarian and Turkish states could cooperate in the construction and development of industrial zones and the possibilities for the implementation of projects with public-private partnership.

Mr Bogdanov recalled that against the backdrop of the recession in Europe, the Ministry of Economy and Industry seeks to develop its ties with Central and East Asian countries. He emphasized that Turkey is a suitable partner for Bulgaria and that there is a great synergy between the two countries for the implementation of common projects in different areas. Mr Bogdanov also stressed that he will continue the work and dialogue with the new ambassador and the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Bulgaria.
