“There are currently over 400 companies in Bulgaria working in the mechatronics, electronics and microelectronics sectors. These are export-oriented companies that develop innovations and have some of the most modern production facilities.” This was said by the Minister of Economy and Industry Bogdan Bogdanov at the Forum Microelectronics & Mechatronics 2023: Shaping the Future of Technology. The event is organized by the Cluster of Microelectronics and Industrial Electronic Systems (CMIES), Technical University — Sofia and the Cluster of Mechatronics and Automation.
In the words of Minister Bogdanov, companies from the mechatronics and microelectronics sectors have several important aspects for the development of the country’s economy. “The companies in the sector give their staff the opportunity to work in modern industries and implement innovative projects,” he said. In Bogdanov’s words, the mechatronics, electronics and microelectronics sectors are traditional for Bulgaria and the country has a clear vision for developing their capabilities. “One of our main tasks is to give these good examples because they are a catalyst for future development,” he added.
Minister Bogdanov wished success to the forum and called for concrete steps to be identified for implementation, which will contribute to the development of the sector. “In days of challenges, the state and business need to work as closely as possible so that we understand their needs, open new markets and reduce risks,” he insisted. During the forum, the minister stressed that in order to ensure the economic development of the country, there must be consensus between the business, public sector and educational institutions. The event brings together leading companies in the field of microelectronics and mechatronics, universities in Bulgaria and Europe with expertise in these areas, experts and specialists from Bulgaria and abroad, as well as political representatives with a bearing on the development of industry, education, research, innovation and technology transfer.
