The Minister of Economy presented the grand prize in the “Large Enterprise” category at the German Economy Awards in Bulgaria
Germany is a key partner for Bulgaria, excelling in both trade and investment. This was stated by the Minister of Economy and Industry, Peter Dilov, at the presentation of the 2024 Annual Awards of the German Economy in Bulgaria. The event was organized by the German-Bulgarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce and held at the University of National and World Economy.
The event was attended by the German Ambassador to Bulgaria, Her Excellency Irene Plank, Tim Kurth, President of the German-Bulgarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce, and representatives from the business and professional communities of both countries.
Minister Dilov stated that the Ministry of Economy and Industry will continue to fully support the development of bilateral cooperation. He said, “It is important for us to restore trust in Bulgaria as a reliable economic partner and a promising location for investment and business.
The Minister of Economy noted that bilateral trade has traditionally increased over the past ten years, reaching record levels in 2023, with positive trends continuing into 2024 despite ongoing crises.
Dilov announced that significant investment projects by German companies have been realized in Bulgaria. According to data from the Bulgarian National Bank, total German investments in Bulgaria amount to EUR 4.4 billion. He described German companies as reliable and long-term investors.
“In a dynamic and changing environment, it is crucial for all of us to build even more stable partnerships and uncover new opportunities for businesses from both countries,” he said.
The Minister of Economy and Industry assured that the government will implement policies to support investors and ensure a transparent and stable business environment. He added, “We will work to maintain the economic and financial stability of the country and to enhance the competitiveness of the Bulgarian economy.”
He also mentioned that Bulgaria’s full membership in the Schengen Area will help facilitate trade relations and expand partnerships between business representatives from both countries.
The German-Bulgarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce presented the German Economy Awards in Bulgaria for the 21st time. Minister Dilov presented the grand prize in the Large Enterprise with a Focus on Innovation category to SAP Labs Bulgaria. The German software giant is a global leader in business software development, with 2,000 employees now working in its Bulgarian office.
