Minister Dilov and the American Chamber of Commerce Will Work Together to Position Bulgaria as an Investment Destination

For the first ten months of 2024, Bulgaria’s trade with the United States stands at USD 1.4 billion.

The positioning of Bulgaria as an investment destination for American companies and the expansion of bilateral trade cooperation were discussed at a meeting between Minister of Economy and Industry Peter Dilov and American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria (AmCham) CEO Ivan Mihaylov.

They talked about opportunities to attract US investors to Bulgaria, as well as the possibility of expanding the activities of companies already operating in the country.

Minister Dilov stressed that the United States is an important partner, and active efforts will be made to develop bilateral trade and economic relations.

He said that the US market is among the main export destinations for Bulgarian high-tech products.

The Minister of Economy emphasized that in the period January–October 2024, Bulgaria’s trade with the United States amounted to 1.4 billion USD. It was noted at the meeting that Bulgaria enjoys a positive trade balance in its trade with the United States, with Bulgarian exports for the first ten months of 2024 exceeding 1 billion USD, according to statistics.

During their talks, both parties highlighted that industry, trade, energy, and high-tech manufacturing remain priority sectors for expanding bilateral cooperation.

They also discussed joint initiatives that could help enhance partnerships, such as organizing business missions, regional initiatives, and cross-border cooperation forums.

Ivan Mihaylov pointed out that the Ministry of Economy and Industry is an important partner of AmCham in strengthening trade and economic relations between Bulgaria and the United States.

Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Nevena Lazarova and the Head of the Minister’s Office, Tanya Atanasova, also attended the meeting.
