Bilateral trade grew by 19.62% in the first two months of 2025 compared to the same period in the previous year
The Minister of Economy and Industry, Peter Dilov, held a meeting with H.E. Marieta García Jordán, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to Bulgaria. The discussion focused on opportunities to strengthen bilateral trade and achieve more tangible progress in revitalising economic ties between the two countries.
The two parties reviewed prospects for expanding bilateral trade and economic cooperation. Minister Dilov highlighted the significant growth in bilateral trade during 2024, which increased by more than 46% compared to the previous year. “It is essential that we explore opportunities to diversify the product range, with a focus on goods with higher added value,” he stated.
For her part, the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Bulgaria underscored the longstanding, traditionally friendly relations between the two nations.
Both sides agreed that there is untapped potential for mutually beneficial cooperation in a number of sectors, including initiatives aligned with Bulgaria’s membership in the European Union and Cuba’s participation in the Latin American Integration Association (ALADI) and other regional organisations.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Ministers of Economy and Industry, Nevena Lazarova, and Dontcho Barbalov.
