The Minister of Economy and Industry of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr Peter Dilov, held a meeting with H.E. Dr Said Mohammed Al Saqri, Minister of Economy of the Sultanate of Oman, who is on an official visit to Bulgaria.

The two ministers discussed opportunities to develop economic relations between the two countries, with a focus on cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, high technology, ICT, and artificial intelligence.

Minister Dilov emphasised the importance that Bulgaria places on its partnership with the Sultanate of Oman as a strategic partner in the Gulf region. “We will work actively to fully realise the existing economic potential between our two countries. Bulgaria has shown consistent interest in expanding cooperation, which can contribute to both sustainable economic growth and the long-term strengthening of our partnership with Oman,” he stated.

During the meeting, it was noted that there is strong potential for joint projects in information technology, digitalisation, digital transformation, and the development of data centres. “Bulgaria has the capacity in these areas and is positioning itself as a regional hub for innovation,” the Minister of Economy highlighted.

Both sides acknowledged the shared goal of increasing bilateral trade, which remains below the potential of the two economies.

Minister Dilov extended an invitation to Omani companies to invest in Bulgaria’s industrial zones, particularly in high value-added sectors.

The ministers also discussed opportunities for establishing joint manufacturing ventures in Bulgaria and Oman, which could provide shared access to markets in the Middle East and North Africa.

They agreed that the exchange of business delegations will be key to unlocking these opportunities.

Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry, Dontcho Barbalov, also took part in the meeting.
