A 2% increase in trade was recorded for the first four months of 2025.
The Minister of Economy and Industry, Peter Dilov, met with H.E. Tsovinar Hambardzumyan, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Bulgaria. The two discussed opportunities to strengthen economic cooperation, intensify trade ties, and expand bilateral trade.
Minister Dilov emphasised that Armenia remains one of Bulgaria’s key foreign economic partners. “Over the years, we have seen a steady trend towards stronger trade relations; however, current trade volumes and investment levels still fall short of the existing potential for development,” he noted.
Both agreed that bilateral cooperation could be further developed across several promising sectors, including transport and communications, information technology, tourism, and other areas of mutual interest.
“Bulgaria continues to maintain and enhance one of its core competitive advantages – a stable macroeconomic environment,” Minister Dilov said. He added that current economic policy priorities are focused on attracting investment to support technological development in high value-added production and services.
During the meeting, it was noted that, according to Armenian data, bilateral trade in 2024 amounted to USD 122 million, with a 2% increase already recorded in the first four months of 2025.
The Armenian Ambassador to Bulgaria, H.E. Tsovinar Hambardzumyan, highlighted the significance of the historical and cultural closeness between the two nations as a solid foundation for deepening the partnership.
Minister Dilov and Ambassador Hambardzumyan also explored opportunities to revitalise the work of the Armenian Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria, as well as to organise bilateral business forums aimed at further enhancing economic cooperation.
The Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry, Dontcho Barbalov, also took part in the meeting.
