The discussions focused on the upcoming Bulgarian – Egyptian Intergovernmental Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation and on new opportunities for business partnerships
“Egypt is a key partner for Bulgaria, and I believe that through our joint efforts we will expand our economic cooperation.” This was stated by the Minister of Economy and Industry, Peter Dilov, during his meeting with H.E. Nader Saad, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Bulgaria. Deputy Minister Doncho Barbalov also took part in the meeting.
The two sides discussed the preparations for the upcoming Bulgarian – Egyptian Intergovernmental Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation, which will be held in Cairo. It was noted during the meeting that the Joint Commission has not convened for nearly six years.
The Minister of Economy and the Ambassador of Egypt highlighted that the forthcoming Second Session marks a new beginning in the bilateral economic dialogue between the two countries. It will encourage investment, innovation and industrial cooperation, and will make it possible to identify priorities and outline new areas of engagement.
The meeting also addressed the participation of a Bulgarian business delegation representing various sectors of mutual interest. It is expected that two key documents will be signed during the Joint Commission – a Memorandum of Understanding between the small and medium-enterprise agencies, and a Memorandum of Partnership between the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) and an Egyptian institute.
Minister Dilov expressed his gratitude for the support of the Egyptian Embassy and emphasised the importance of good coordination for the successful implementation of bilateral initiatives.
“Bulgaria and Egypt share a common aspiration for modernisation, technological progress and the development of industrial and innovation potential. This makes us natural long-term partners,” Minister Dilov noted.
