Bilateral trade exceeds USD 1 billion in the first quarter of 2025
The Minister of Economy and Industry, Peter Dilov, held a meeting with Her Excellency Dai Qingli, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Bulgaria
The two discussed opportunities to strengthen trade and economic relations between Bulgaria and China.
During the meeting, it was noted that bilateral trade between Bulgaria and the People’s Republic of China reached just over USD 1 billion in the first three months of 2025, representing an increase of 27.8% compared to the same period in the previous year.

Minister Dilov emphasised that there remains considerable untapped potential for improving economic performance and expanding bilateral trade.
“We view the development of bilateral trade and economic relations within the framework of Bulgaria’s full membership in the European Union and the Schengen Area,” Minister Dilov added.
He noted that efforts are underway to identify new opportunities for expanding Bulgarian exports to various international markets.
He also stated that Bulgaria is actively seeking to attract investment in sectors where the country has traditional strengths, as well as in those that generate high added value and enhance the competitiveness of the national economy. These include mechanical engineering, automotive manufacturing and components, electronics and electrical engineering, information and communication technologies, agriculture, and the food and beverage industry.
Ambassador Dai Qingli, in turn, expressed confidence that the strong relations between the two countries will continue to deepen, highlighting China’s appreciation for its partnership with Bulgaria.
The meeting also included discussions on potential areas for cooperation and the development of joint projects in sectors of mutual interest.
