Minister Dilov discussed with the Czech Ambassador to Bulgaria new opportunities to expand bilateral economic relations

The trade between Bulgaria and the Czech Republic for 2024 is nearly 2 billion euros

Bulgaria and the Czech Republic maintain stable trade and economic relations. This was confirmed during a meeting between the Minister of Economy and Industry Petеr Dilov and the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Bulgaria, H.E. Miroslav Toma

The two discussed the promotion of partnerships between companies from both countries in sectors of mutual interest, such as high technology, mechanical engineering, transport and energy, which have the potential to ensure stable growth of economic ties between Bulgaria and the Czech Republic.

“The Czech Republic is one of our leading economic partners in Central Europe. Bilateral trade is at high levels, but there is still potential for development,” emphasized Minister Dilov. According to statistics, in 2024 the trade between Bulgaria and the Czech Republic amounted to 1.888 billion euros.

“I believe that we can deepen our partnership by focusing our efforts on new promising sectors and forms of interaction,” said Minister Dilov. In his words, increasing Czech investments in our country is an important priority for Bulgaria.

The Minister of Economy and Industry pointed out that Czech investments in Bulgaria occupy a significant place in our economy and are concentrated in key sectors. “Over 400 Czech companies operate in our country, creating thousands of jobs and contributing to the technological development of the Bulgarian industry,” the Minister of Economy stressed.

For his part, Ambassador Toman emphasized that there are already many good examples in Bulgaria of Czech companies that have invested in sectors such as telecommunications, automotive, finance, healthcare, IT, logistics, industrial production, etc.

During the meeting, Minister Dilov and H.E. Miroslav Toman also discussed the possibility of organizing a working group for economic cooperation, which would give new directions in the trade and economic relations of the two countries.

The Czech Ambassador to Bulgaria emphasized that a Bulgarian-Czech Chamber of Commerce was established at the end of last year, which already has over 40 member companies. In his words, this will improve relations between businesses from the two countries and create a favorable environment for their development

The two agreed that after Bulgaria’s full membership in Schengen there is even greater potential for cooperation and implementation of joint projects between the two countries.
