Minister Dilov: We are working to ensure a transparent and stable business environment 15.04.2025

German companies have invested over €4 billion in Bulgaria.

We strive to implement policies to support investors and ensure a transparent and stable business environment. We are working to maintain economic and financial stability in the country, to increase the competitiveness of the Bulgarian economy and to stimulate investment. This was stated by the Minister of Economy and Industry, Peter Dilov, who held a meeting with representatives of German companies, members of the German-Bulgarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (GBCIC). The meeting was attended by Tim Kurt, President of the GBCIC, Sonya Miklai, Chief Executive Officer of the GBCIC, and representatives of German business in the country.

At the meeting, it became clear that, according to BNB data, the total German investments in Bulgaria amounted to over €4 billion as of December 2024.

“Proof of the importance of Germany as a leading foreign economic partner of Bulgaria is the accelerated growth rate of trade, as well as the significant presence of German companies operating on the Bulgarian market and developing business in our country,” the Minister of Economy emphasized.

Minister Dilov pointed out that German companies are reliable investors, as they are committed for the long term. According to him, Bulgaria’s Schengen membership and its upcoming inclusion in the Eurozone, for which active work is being done, are important factors that will contribute to further facilitating trade links and investment exchange between the two countries.

Dilov stressed that actions continue for the creation and development of industrial parks and zones, in which green technologies and sustainable production will be encouraged.

“Our goals are focused on creating an environment that will help stimulate investment in high-tech manufacturing, the implementation of innovation, and the introduction of new technologies, both in production processes and in the creation of new products and services,” he added.

A range of issues were discussed relating to the easing of regulations and the administrative burden on business, predictability and impact assessment when introducing new legislative initiatives, the labour market and finding qualified personnel, as well as the price of electricity for industry, in order to guarantee the competitiveness of the economy.

Minister Dilov assured German businesses that they can rely on the Ministry’s staff in carrying out their activities in Bulgaria.
