The Minister of Economy and Industry, Peter Dilov, met with the Ambassador of Azerbaijan, H.E. Dr. Huseyn Huseynov, to discuss opportunities for improving trade and economic relations and exploring prospects for joint investments.
“Increasing direct Azerbaijani investments in Bulgaria is a significant priority for us,” Minister Dilov said.
The Minister of Economy and Industry said that Bulgaria and Azerbaijan have considerable untapped potential in trade development. “It is essential to boost the export of Bulgarian products in sectors like mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, electronics, food industry equipment, lifting and transport equipment, pharmaceuticals, and more,” Dilov noted. He mentioned that organizing a bilateral business forum would further strengthen business connections between the two countries.
According to Minister Dilov, there are opportunities for collaboration and growth in agriculture and the food industry, particularly in exporting food products, machinery, and equipment.
During the meeting, the key sectors for both parties to focus on were identified: IT, pharmaceuticals, transport, tourism, and energy. Minister Dilov and Ambassador Huseynov also talked about investment opportunities in our industrial zones and the potential for companies to engage in infrastructure projects.
Ambassador Huseynov expressed Azerbaijan’s willingness for active cooperation. He noted that relations between the two countries have grown rapidly in recent years, with a significant increase in trade turnover. He believes that Bulgaria and Azerbaijan have great potential in bilateral trade, especially if they work on diversifying exports and imports.
Ambassador Huseynov said that organizing joint forums and meetings, including visits, will provide a platform for the exchange of ideas, improvement of bilateral relations, and promotion of business and economic cooperation.
