Direct Swiss investments in Bulgaria amount to nearly 4 billion euro, it was said during a meeting between the Minister of Economy and the Bulgarian-Swiss Chamber of Commerce.
One of our top priorities is to restore trust in Bulgaria as a dependable economic partner and an attractive place for investment and business. We are committed to maintaining the country’s economic and financial stability, boosting the competitiveness of the Bulgarian economy, and encouraging investments. The Minister of Economy and Industry, Peter Dilov, shared this during a meeting with Boni Bonev, Chair of the Bulgarian-Swiss Chamber of Commerce, and Vasil Radoynovski, Secretary of the Chamber.
The Minister of Economy informed the Swiss business community that Bulgaria highly values collaboration with bilateral chambers of commerce.
During the meeting, it was noted that, according to Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) data, Swiss direct investments in Bulgaria amount to nearly EUR 4 billion. Swiss investors operate in fast-growing sectors, including energy, food processing, cement production, electronics, and industrial battery manufacturing.
Minister Dilov and the Bulgarian-Swiss Chamber of Commerce representatives discussed opportunities to deepen ties with Swiss companies in the fields of innovation and dual education. It was emphasized that the Ministry of Economy and Industry is a key partner in the process that fosters collaboration between business and education. The parties also discussed promoting relations between small and medium-sized enterprises from both countries, which are the backbone of the economy.
The Bulgarian-Swiss Chamber of Commerce representatives highlighted that Swiss investors are interested in establishing R&D centers in Bulgaria, where there are already successful examples in this regard.
Both sides agreed to actively promote Bulgaria as an investment destination among Swiss companies.
Minister Dilov pointed out that bilateral trade relations have followed a positive trend in recent years, but there is still potential to strengthen cooperation and launch joint projects.
Trade figures show that in 2023, trade turnover with Switzerland reached nearly EUR 700 million. In the first ten months of 2024 alone, it had already surpassed this amount, reaching EUR 750 million.
The Bulgarian-Swiss Chamber of Commerce brings together 130 companies, ranging from leading multinational corporations to small and medium-sized enterprises across different sectors.
