Minister of Economy and Industry Peter Dilov attended the official launch of a new innovative chocolate production line at Nestle’s factory in Sofia. The company’s investment totals BGN 82 million and will create 70 new jobs. It is aimed at increasing and modernizing the factory’s production capacity in the country. With the launch of this new production line, Bulgaria is strengthening its position as a key innovation hub for the Swiss company in Europe.
Minister Dilov wished success to the company’s new investment and remarked that he will work to improve the business environment and encourage investments, both by companies entering the country and by those already present and expanding their production capacity.
“It is important for us to encourage innovative, high value-added manufacturing with an export orientation,” Dilov said. He toured the factory’s new production lines in Sofia and became acquainted with technology that is unique in Europe and will produce KitKat Tablets, an innovative product for the global market.
Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov, Minister of Labour and Social Policy Borislav Gutsanov, Executive Vice President of Nestle and CEO for Zone Europe Guillaume Le Cunff, Executive Director for Bulgaria Petar Stoilov, representatives of the Bulgarian-Swiss Chamber of Commerce, and members of the Bulgarian business community also attended the official opening ceremony.
The third production line expands the capacity of the Bulgarian factory and doubles annual output, which will be exported to 18 international markets, including the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Austria and Canada.
