The Minister of Economy and Industry, Mr. Nikola Stojanov, presented the opportunities of our defence industry to the National Defence College of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The delegation also included representatives from Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana.
‘Bulgarian companies from the defence industry actively participate and perform successfully in highly competitive international NATO tenders,’ Minister Stojanov said. In his words, this sector is competitive at the international level, and our country has strong traditions in the training of personnel — both in engineering and defence. In this regard, the opportunities for training Nigerian students in Bulgaria were also discussed.
During the meeting, opportunities for cooperation through exchange of knowledge and experience between the two countries were also discussed. The participants in the discussion agreed that it is particularly important, given the challenges of the contemporary environment, to discuss ideas and positive practices in the defence sphere in order to make countries more adaptable to the increased demands and dynamic international environment.
The head of the delegation of the National Defence College of Nigeria is Commodore Olufemi Adeleke, a Naval Officer of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Within the framework of their visit, the delegation also visited the oldest higher military school in Bulgaria — the Military Academy ‘G. S. Rakovski’.
