Our trade with Italy in the ten months of 2022 is close to EUR 6 billion, marking an increase of nearly 37% compared to the same period of 2021. This became clear during a meeting between the Minister of Economy and Industry Nikola Stojanov and the Ambassador of Italy to Bulgaria H.E. Giuseppina Zarra.
A meeting with Italian companies operating in Bulgaria will be organized by the end of the month, it became clear during the talks. The discussion will be part of the ‘breakfast for investors’ initiative with the minister, which Nikola Stojanov launched last year.
Opportunities for cooperation in infrastructure projects as well as in the field of information technology and innovation were discussed. ‘Italy has traditionally been one of our strategic and valued partners. A positive indication of the role of Italian investments in Bulgaria is the constantly increasing number of Italian companies operating on the Bulgarian market,’ Minister Stojanov added.
During the meeting the Minister of Economy stressed that the bilateral trade and economic cooperation between Bulgaria and Italy is developing very dynamically. In his words, it is very important to identify common actions to promote more joint projects and increase the share of products with higher added value. Joint investment promotion initiatives were also discussed.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Dimitar Danchev, the President of Confindustria Bulgaria Roberto Santorelli and Anna Cuatrone, Secretary at the Embassy of the Italian Republic.
