The opportunities for intensifying the economic cooperation between Bulgaria and Kosovo were discussed by the Minister for Economy and Industry Dr. Petko Nikolov and Dr. Artane Rizvanolli, Minister for Economy of the Republic of Kosovo. The two met within the Vienna Economic Forum taking place in Sofia. The ministers discussed the possibility of concluding an Economic Cooperation Agreement between Bulgaria and Kosovo.
Dr. Nikolov and Dr. Rizvanolli highlighted the potential for the development of trade and economic relations, focusing on the cooperation between companies from the information and communication technologies sector.
They discussed, as a good step for the development of business relations between the two countries, the intensification of the work of the Kosovo-Bulgaria Chamber of Commerce, which was established at the end of 2023.
During the meeting Minister Rizvanolli thanked Bulgaria for its support in the process of Kosovo’s European integration.
The economic ministers agreed to prioritize work on strengthening bilateral trade, especially for imports of goods from Bulgaria, such as food and agricultural products, industrial goods and others.
Trade relations with Kosovo have been developing in recent years, with trade between the two countries amounting to 168.7 million euros in 2023, an increase of 32.9% compared to 2022. Our exports to Kosovo increased by 6.6% and amounted to EUR 119.2 million, while imports amounted to EUR 49.5 million.
