Japanese business delegation will visit our country in October
The Minister of Economy and Industry Dr. Petko Nikolov and the Ambassador of Japan to Bulgaria H. E. Hisashi Michigami discussed intensifying bilateral economic cooperation. The two discussed ways to improve trade relations and investment between the two countries.
Minister Nikolov emphasized that Bulgaria and Japan have the potential to realize greater trade and make the business relations between the two countries more dynamic. ‘We will encourage bilateral contacts between companies from both countries’, the economy minister said at the meeting. He pointed out that the fruitful cooperation between Japan’s Meiji and LB Bulgaricum will continue in the future, protecting the interest of both parties.
Ambassador Michigami pointed out that Japanese investors in the country are satisfied, as most of them want to expand their production in the country. According to him, the Japanese companies operating in Bulgaria have created 7,700 jobs.
He stressed that the Japanese business is interested in investing in Bulgaria in the automotive sector and energy, where there is a great potential for partnership.
H.E. Hisashi Michigami announced that a Japanese business delegation is being organized to visit Bulgaria in October, which will be a good start for strengthening business ties between the two countries.
It was also pointed out at the meeting that Bulgaria’s participation in the EXPO 2025 World Expo, which will be held in Osaka, is a good opportunity to increase interest in our country in Japan.
In 2023, total trade with Japan reaches nearly USD 310 million. Bulgarian exports amounted to 96 million USD, an increase of 19% compared to the previous year.
