Trade between Bulgaria and Germany in just the first ten months of 2024 reached EUR 10.3 billion.
Germany is a strategic and leading foreign economic partner of Bulgaria. The dynamic development of bilateral trade and investments is proof of the stability of our economic relations and the potential for their further expansion. This was stated by Minister of Economy and Industry Peter Dilov during a meeting with the Ambassador of Germany, H.E. Irene Maria Plank.
Both countries see potential for intensified cooperation in areas such as high technology, the green economy, innovation, and industry, according to discussions at the meeting.
“Data shows that trade has traditionally increased over the last 10 years, and reached record levels in 2023. This is a clear sign of mutual trust and the sustainable development of our partnership. It is important to continue our efforts to expand investments and enter new market niches,” Minister Dilov stressed.
He also pointed out that Bulgaria-Germany economic and trade relations continue to deepen, with bilateral trade reaching EUR 10.3 billion in the first ten months of 2024 alone.
“Germany is also among Bulgaria’s leading investment partners, with nearly 1,500 German companies operating in the country, creating more than 50,000 jobs,” Dilov emphasized.
He said that among the priorities in the economic sphere are restoring trust in Bulgaria as a reliable economic partner and a promising location for investment and business.
“Our economic policy is focused on increasing investments for technological development in high-value-added manufacturing and services, creating high-performance jobs, developing industrial zones and technology parks, and deploying innovations,” Minister Dilov noted.
Ambassador Plank said that improving the relationship between Bulgaria and Germany and speeding up projects of mutual interest are vital for the region’s future development.
Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Nevena Lazarova and the Head of the Minister’s Office, Tanya Atanasova, also attended the meeting.
