Minister Stojanov and the Ambassador of Kazakhstan Discussed Investment Opportunities Along the Middle Corridor

Strengthening regional cooperation between Bulgaria and Kazakhstan, and the importance of the Middle Corridor for the countries of the region. This was discussed during a meeting between the Minister of Economy and Industry Nikola Stojanov and the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Bulgaria H.E. Viktor Temirbayev.

‘Kazakhstan is a highly promising market, but in order to ensure increased trade we need to speed up the construction of the shortest freight routes,’ Minister Stojanov stressed. Last year, trade between Bulgaria and Kazakhstan grew by more than 80% compared to 2021 and approached USD 90 million. Exports from Bulgaria to Kazakhstan also grew by over 25% and amounted to USD 58 million. ‘In order to increase these numbers, in addition to improving infrastructure connectivity, it is of utmost importance to promote partnerships between companies from both countries because they are the real engine of economic cooperation,’ Stojanov added.

Ambassador Temirbayev said that Bulgaria is increasingly establishing itself as a transport and logistics hub on the way to Europe and the development of transport and information connectivity between the two countries is a key priority for them.
