The opportunities for deepening the economic cooperation between Bulgaria and Uzbekistan were discussed during a meeting between the Minister of Economy and Industry Nikola Stojanov and 20 Uzbek delegates from different economic spheres. Their visit was initiated by the Bulgaria-Uzbekistan Friendship Society.
“Although in 2021 the mutual trade will grow by nearly 50% compared to 2020, the economic ties are below the capacities of both countries,” Minister Stojanov emphasized and expressed confidence that such meetings will strengthen the trade and economic cooperation between Bulgaria and Uzbekistan.
The two sides discussed the potential in a number of areas of mutual interest, including agriculture, pharmaceuticals, food processing, engineering, transport, education and tourism.
Minister Nikolov thanked for the meeting and expressed hope that the Sixth Session of the Bulgarian-Uzbek Intergovernmental Commission for Economic and Scientific and Technical Cooperation will be held soon. The largest single investment in an operating enterprise was launched in Varna region.
