A German company invests in a software development centre in Sofia and will create 100 new jobs
The German- Indian joint venture company is investing EUR 1.5 million initially in a software development centre in Sofia and will gradually create nearly 100 new jobs for highly qualified IT specialists in the country. This became clear during a meeting of the Minister of Economy and Industry Bogdan Bogdanov with the CEO of the German automotive software company SULZER GmbH Dr. Michael Kraus and Rajesh Raju, Managing Director of Achala IT Solutions. Among the company’s customers are car manufacturers BMW, AUDI, DAIMLER, MAN, Porsche, Rolls Royce, SEAT, VW, Skoda and others.
Minister Bogdanov emphasized that the automotive sector is a priority for Bulgaria as it brings a lot of added value. He pointed out that more and more investors from the industry are interested in opening R&D centres in Bulgaria. ‘Software development in the automotive industry is important for Bulgaria and our country has all the prerequisites to become a regional hub for the development of companies in the sector,’ he added.
The Minister pointed out that the automotive industry in the country is one of the fastest growing, having generated more than 10% of GDP for the last year alone and employing 75,000 people. According to him, only 10 years ago it accounted for only 1% of GDP, and the number of employees was less than 9,000.
At the meeting, the German-Indian joint venture’s plans for development in the country were discussed, with Dr. Kraus pointing out that the investment in our country is part of the company’s policy of nearshoring in search of shortening supply chains.
Minister Bogdanov said that Bulgaria has talented engineers and sufficient expertise, pointing out that sustainable business development can be achieved here, as well as synergies and partnerships in the automotive sector, where an excellent ecosystem is already established.
SULZER GmbH was established in 1978 and has been successfully working with customers in the automotive industry as well as in the engineering and insurance sectors.
The German company is an IT solutions provider that supports automotive supply chain processes through integrated business and technical expertise.
