Minister Loukarsky names Telerik for the acquisition by American company Progress Software

“The ambition of Svetozar, Vasil, Boyko and Hristo created a truly innovative and successful company. Its recent acquisition by Progress Software for the incredible sum of $265.5 M is a precedent not only for Bulgaria but the entire region. Telerik has become one of the hottest topics and a reason for national pride.” That was said by the Minister of Economy Bojidar Loukarsky while awarding the prize to Telerik in the category Investment in mergers / acquisitions at ceremony for the annual awards of the InvestBulgaria Agency for the Investor of the Year,.

He wished the team of Telerik to continue working with the same passion and expressed his hope that we are witnessing similar success of the Bulgarian companies on the international scene.

Deputy Minister of Economy Lyuben Petrov awarded Teklas- Bulgaria in the Investing in Innovative Business category for the use of an innovative method for processing blow-moulding engineering plastics . The company has inversed a total amount of BGN 7M in commissioning the new production process. “The major priority of the Ministry of Economy is to encourage entrepreneurship and innovation. One of the main instruments is the National Innovation Fund.

Opportunities will be provided through the Operational Programme “Competitiveness and Innovation”. I hope that Teklas – Bulgaria will initiate the innovative investments in Bulgaria, ” Deputy Minister Petrov said.

Deputy Minister of Economy Daniela Vezieva distinguished the most successful start-up company and the award in this category went to C&C Textiles. For a short period, the company has constructed a factory for production of synthetic fibers in Haskovo and has employed a staff of about 115 people. The company’s investment programme envisages to expand their activities and to increase the number employees to 1000.Deputy Minister Vezieva was delighted with the company’s plans for further development of investment and the creation of new jobs in the region of Haskovo.

Devnya Cement was named Investor of the Year 2014 and received the statuette by the

President Rosen Plevneliev. The company has completed the project for reconstruction and modernization of the plant for production of clinker and cement. The project costs amounted to BGN 325 M and created more than 3000 jobs during its implementation. Technological system is a closed process with non-waste production and is one of the largest single industrial investments in Bulgaria over the last 25 years.

German company Behr-Hella won the Green investment of the year awarded by Deputy Prime Minister Meglena Kuneva. The Investment in human capital award went to Yazaki Bulgaria handed by Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev, while the Burgas-based Lukoil Neftochim refinery won the Investment in expanding award. Bulfarma was awarded in the Investing in Expanding Market Share Category. Aurubis Bulgaria won the award for investment in environmental protection.
