Minister of Economy Emil Karanikolov will open a seminar on “Space Balkans” – Space services for regional strategies in the digital economy: Balkan and Black Sea Perspectives.” The event is organized by the European Space Agency jointly with the Ministry of Economy and is under the auspices of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
The Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU has prioritized the promotion of the digital economy, jobs for young people and security and stability in the Western Balkans. In this context, Earth observation contributes significantly to the digital economy through a series of innovative services and data abundance. Pilot projects developed in particular under the European Space Agency programs demonstrated opportunities to support “blue growth”, “agriculture”, “water management” and “security and stability” policies.
The main themes of the conference are priorities in the region, support for accelerated economic development, consideration of sustainability, marine environment and blue growth, hydrology and extreme events, as well as security and law enforcement.
