Seventy-four percent of companies in the country use natural gas, and only 37% can replace it with an alternative fuel. This was announced by the Minister of Economy and Industry Nikola Stojanov at the opening of the specialized exhibition “MachTech & InnoTech Expo 2022”. The data are from a survey of Bulgarian businesses conducted by the ministry in August, which aimed to give an up-to-date picture of business needs.
The survey also shows that 60% of the companies cannot reduce their gas consumption volumes. “These data show once again how important diversification and securing the best prices for energy sources before the winter season is,” said Nikola Stojanov.
Minister Stojanov congratulated the participants in the exhibition and pointed out that in 2021 the exports of the Bulgarian companies working in the engineering sector will exceed BGN 4 billion. “70% of the production in the sector is exported to countries in Europe, which is a clear sign that Bulgarian companies are highly competitive on the world markets,” Stojanov further said. According to him, the sector has a high added value and the Bulgarian state makes every effort to improve the business environment in the country.
After the official opening, Minister Stojanov visited the exhibition stands where representatives of Bulgarian and international companies introduced him to their activities and production.
MachTech & InnoTech Expo 2022 is being held for the 13th time and this year brings together over 130 companies. 250 global brands from Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, Italy, Turkey, Romania, China, etc. will be presented within 4 days, from today to 16 September, on an area of 10,000 sqm.
