Ministry of Economy and Industry Introduced Electronic Document Management

The Ministry of Economy and Industry has introduced electronic document management within its structure. Upon his inauguration, Minister Nikola Stojanov instructed the administrative units of the institution to implement all necessary measures to reduce paper by the beginning of 2023.

The introduction of electronic document management has been delayed for years. As part of the programme for the introduction of e-government in the country, in 2018 recommendations were sent to all ministries at national level for the introduction of electronic document management. However, to date, the process of introducing it to the Ministry of Economy and Industry has not been completed.

Within the last few months, all the necessary steps for the actual introduction of the electronic document flow in the Ministry have been implemented. Documents in the administration are now reviewed and signed by employees electronically. Only documents addressed to external recipients remain on paper. This will increase the efficiency of the administration and allow for faster processing of documents.

‘A very overdue action that we should have implemented in just a few months. The Ministry of Economy and Industry should be the driver of administrative reform that makes it easier for people and businesses. Against this background, the institution continued to process the documents on paper, which wasted time and resources’, said Minister Nikola Stojanov.
