Nearly 268 thousand people work in the construction sector in the country and their work is growing every year. This was stated by Minister of Economy and Industry Nikola Stojanov during a ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy. He added that the production in the sector last year was worth more than BGN 16 billion.
Minister Stojanov expressed his gratitude to the academic staff of the University, who traditionally support the Ministry of Economy and Industry with their expertise in planning and implementing its policies. He noted that the Ministry has been working closely with representatives from the Faculty of Hydraulic Engineering at UACEG for more than three months on the creation of a legal framework related to the maintenance of dams in Bulgaria.
“More and more often in my meetings with investors from all over the world, they pay serious attention to the knowledge and skills that Bulgarian personnel possess. Moreover, they call it “talent” and I think that you – the Bulgarian lecturers – have a great merit,” the economic minister further said.
The event was also attended by the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Ivan Shishkov, the Minister of Environment and Water Rositsa Karamfilova, the Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Irina Shtonova, representatives of academia and others. The celebrations for the 80th anniversary of the university are held under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria Rumen Radev.
