A new coordination unit will support the implementation of strategic investment projects in Bulgaria, the Deputy Prime Minister announced.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Investments and Industry Alexander Poulev and the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Bulgaria, H.E. Mehmet Sait Uyanık, discussed opportunities to further deepen bilateral economic cooperation.

During the meeting, the two officials exchanged views on prospects for new investments and the further development of industrial cooperation, as well as on the importance of maintaining an active political and diplomatic dialogue between the two countries.

Deputy Prime Minister Poulev emphasized that Bulgaria regards Türkiye as one of its key strategic partners in the region, both because of the longstanding historical ties between the two countries and the strong and dynamic economic cooperation across a number of key sectors.

During the discussion, Poulev highlighted the significant contribution of Turkish companies to the economic development of various regions of Bulgaria. According to him, they are among the country’s major employers and make an important contribution to job creation, economic growth and improving the standard of living in local communities.

“Reducing regional disparities and economic imbalances is among the key priorities of our programme. In this process, Turkish businesses make an important contribution by supporting the development of a number of regions across the country and providing livelihoods for thousands of families,” said the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy.

He further announced that a new coordination unit would be established within the Council of Ministers. The new structure will serve as a single point of contact for investors, helping to reduce administrative burdens, streamline procedures and improve interinstitutional coordination in the implementation of investment projects.

The two officials reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining an active dialogue and working towards further strengthening the partnership between Bulgaria and Türkiye. They noted that the organisation of bilateral Bulgarian-Turkish business forums would help stimulate cooperation and promote new areas of economic partnership between companies from both countries.

For his part, H.E. Mehmet Sait Uyanık stated that economic cooperation between the two countries has considerable potential for further development.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister of Economy, Investments and Industry Krasimir Yakimov.
