A Regular Meeting of the Non-Financial Sector Expert Group Was Held Under the Chairmanship of Deputy Minister Irina Shtonova

It is planned to draw up guidelines for the correct conversion of prices from lev to euro. They will be developed by the Expert Working Group ‘Non-Financial Sector’ of the Coordinating Council for the Preparation of the Republic of Bulgaria for Euro Area Membership. The Chair of the Working Group is the Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Irina Shtonova and this is the second regular meeting.

Rules are being prepared for tax and accounting in the period when the two currencies will be the official means of payment, as well as for adapting accounting, tax, logistics, commodity and other systems to work with the euro.

The objective of the Working Group is to facilitate the business in the process of changeover from lev to euro by collecting experience of other countries in this area and preparing a list of necessary actions and a timetable for their implementation.

In addition, working sub-groups will be organised to discuss the different topics. Information will also be sent to businesses on the work of other Working Groups whose activities are related to the introduction of the euro.

Representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Industry, the Ministry of Finance, the National Revenue Agency, Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Confederation of Employers and Industrialists in Bulgaria, the Bulgarian Information Technology Association, the Modern Trade Association, the Bulgarian Association of Distributors of Fiscal Devices and other organizations and companies participate in the Working Group.
