Minister Dilov and Ambassador Al-Fadli Discuss Attracting Kuwaiti Investment to Bulgaria

The Minister of Economy and Industry, Peter Dilov, held a meeting with H.E. Ghazi Hamed Al-Fadli, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Kuwait to Bulgaria. The two discussed current aspects of bilateral trade and economic relations, as well as opportunities for their more active development.

“Attracting Kuwaiti investment into the Bulgarian economy is among the priorities of our bilateral relations. The State of Kuwait is a strategic partner in the Gulf region, and we see real potential for deepening our economic cooperation,” Minister Dilov stated.

The Minister noted that Bulgaria offers competitive conditions for investment. As of today, the country’s long-term credit rating has been upgraded by both S&P and Fitch following this week’s approval of Bulgaria’s accession to the eurozone. “We expect a further upgrade as of 1 January 2026,” he added.

According to Minister Dilov, there are excellent opportunities for joint projects in high value-added sectors. “Bulgaria can be a reliable partner for Kuwaiti businesses in establishing production facilities and research units,” he emphasised.

Ambassador Al-Fadli, in turn, stated that the State of Kuwait views Bulgaria as a reliable and important partner in Europe. He noted that Bulgaria serves as a strategic gateway to the European market.

Minister Dilov also proposed the reactivation of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation, whose last session was held in 2006.

The two also discussed the organisation of joint business forums and delegations aimed at fostering and deepening ties between the business communities of both countries. In this regard, it was confirmed during the meeting that a business delegation of Bulgarian companies is preparing to visit Kuwait this autumn, where they will have the opportunity to establish new commercial partnerships.
