There is considerable potential to boost bilateral trade and economic relations between Bulgaria and the Kyrgyz Republic, Minister of Economy and Industry Dr. Petko Nikolov and the new Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to Bulgaria, H.E. Mr. Idris Kadyrkulov, discussed during a meeting.
The two explored ways to initiate and expand bilateral trade and economic relations.
Minister Nikolov noted that there is potential to boost cooperation in agriculture. Our country could increase its exports to the Kyrgyz Republic with various products for the agricultural sector and processing industry.
During the meeting, it was also discussed that a draft Agreement on Economic Cooperation is currently under negotiation. This agreement is expected to set up an Intergovernmental Bulgarian-Kyrgyz Commission for Economic Cooperation. Signing the agreement and establishing the intergovernmental commission will create an opportunity to enhance bilateral dialog at both the institutional and business levels.
The possibilities of concluding a number of other agreements, including an Agreement on Mutual Protection of Investments, which could contribute to the expansion of bilateral economic relations was also discussed during the meeting.
