After receiving an official invitation for a meeting from the Ministry of Economy and Industry, the CEO of Mondi Group, based in the United Kingdom, sent a letter accepting the invitation. The meeting will focus on discussing the future of the company’s plant in Stamboliyski.
The response received is a positive sign that the company is ready to start discussions about the plant’s future.
We note that after the announced suspension of operations at the company’s pulp and kraft paper factory in Bulgaria, Minister Nikolov met with representatives of the Bulgarian plant management and the initiative committee working to preserve the plant.
During the meetings, Dr. Petko Nikolov conveyed the Ministry of Economy and Industry’s support for the workers’ requests for more information about the plant’s future and its operations. He was firm that the government is focused on keeping Mondi as an investor in the municipality of Stamboliyski.
