“Today is an important day not only for the company, but also for the development of the Bozhurishte Industrial Zone and for strengthening Bulgaria’s position as a competitive investment destination,” said Irina Shtonova, Minister of Economy and Industry, during an official ceremony marking the start of construction of a third highly automated storage tower at the distribution centre of JYSK in the Bozhurishte Industrial Zone. The investment amounts to 45 million euro and will bring the company’s total investment in Bulgaria to over 164 million euro.

Minister Shtonova expressed the state’s firm support for projects that create added value, promote environmental sustainability, and ensure long-term employment. “The most important task of the Ministry of Economy and Industry is to address promptly all issues and challenges faced by companies operating in the country and to be a reliable partner to investors in their development in Bulgaria,” she emphasised, adding that the Ministry would assist in the swift resolution of any administrative difficulties arising during the implementation of the investment.
The ceremony was also attended by Nikolay Naydenov, Minister of Regional Development and Public Works; Flemming Stender, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark to Bulgaria; Ole Thomsen, Executive Vice President for Logistics at JYSK; and others.
The new facility will increase the site’s capacity by nearly 50%, bringing the total area of the logistics centre to 116,000 square metres. The distribution centre in Bulgaria, opened in 2018, serves more than 304 stores in the Balkan region and handles all physical and online deliveries for Bulgaria, Turkey, Greece, and Romania, as well as franchise operations in several other countries. More than 350 people are employed at the logistics base in Bozhurishte. At present, JYSK operates 61 stores in Bulgaria and plans to open at least two additional outlets by the end of 2026.
