Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economics Alexander Poulev: Accelerating Processes at “Dobroslavtsi” Economic Zone, Introducing a Public-Private Partnership Model

Day by day, we will monitor actions to compensate for the delay,” Deputy Minister Krasimir Yakimov was categorical

The “Dobroslavtsi” Economic Zone is a collective representation of the government’s priorities in the field of economic development. The zone allows for interaction with innovative Bulgarian companies and provides powerful support to Bulgarian industry in sectors with high added value. A public-private partnership model will be established to build modern, connecting, and internal infrastructure. This will stimulate interaction between business, the state, and education.

This was stated by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Innovation, and Industry Alexander Poulev following a meeting held at the ministry on Friday to accelerate actions regarding the “Dobroslavtsi” Economic Zone.

According to Poulev, the “Dobroslavtsi” zone was created literally in two months during the caretaker government more than three years ago. At that time, a coordination unit was established with representatives from all ministries, Sofia Municipality, related departments, etc. This unit is now continuing its work on a permanent basis. This is being realized as part of a large-scale administrative reform, which has already been tabled in parliament for discussion and finalization, he explained.

“We find that following the good pace we set more than three years ago, there have been no results regarding the implementation of the ‘Dobroslavtsi’ Economic Zone. Now we will catch up on the backlog. We will compensate for these deficits and we are ready to do so. The working group has been reconvened, and all interested parties will work at a rapid pace to open the Zone and support Bulgarian technological champions and regional leaders,” Poulev noted, explaining that the profile of the Zone will be high-tech industries, including space technologies, defence, and innovation.

“We take a commitment to Bulgarian innovative companies that the state will provide them with accelerated and quality administrative services,” he was categorical during his conversation with Raycho Raychev, founder of the company EnduroSat—a leader in the space technology sector.

The Deputy Minister of Economy, Innovation, and Industry Krasimir Yakimov stated before the members of the working group earlier that he would personally follow the activities to accelerate the opening of the Zone on a daily basis and ordered that as early as Tuesday, task assignments be received by the responsible institutions along with execution deadlines. In his words, work will proceed on an expedited schedule, and the departments represented in the group have only a few weeks to complete all coordination actions among themselves. He was critical of the backlog and stressed that the Ministry of Economy, Innovation, and Industry will not tolerate any delays in the process.”Work within the shortest deadlines, respect the law, as there will be day-by-day control. Do not write wishful letters and stop with unnecessary formalism! We want results and an open ‘Dobroslavtsi’ Economic Zone as soon as possible,” Yakimov added.
