The Minister of Economy emphasised that the US is a key strategic partner of our country
The Minister of Economy and Industry, Peter Dilov, met with the Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the US Embassy in Bulgaria, Ms Susan Falatko. The two discussed opportunities to deepen the economic partnership and expand bilateral trade.

Minister Dilov highlighted the importance that Bulgaria places on its relationship with the US, describing it as a strategic partner of our country, and stressed the need to further develop and expand bilateral trade and investment relations.
He noted that in 2024, trade between the two countries reached 1.58 billion US dollars, with Bulgarian exports to the US amounting to 1.12 billion dollars, and imports totalling 456 million dollars.
During the meeting, priority areas for economic cooperation were discussed, including the launch of a strategic dialogue between Bulgaria and the US, the promotion of American investments in the Bulgarian economy, and our country’s accession process to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
“Attracting American investments in sectors such as the automotive industry, electronics, information technology, robotics, and artificial intelligence is of key importance to us,” Dilov stated. According to him, partnerships are being sought that deliver high added value and promote the country’s technological advancement.
“We are relying on our shared cooperation to identify concrete steps for advancing our economic relations. The Ministry of Economy and Industry will continue to provide full support in this direction,” the Minister of Economy affirmed.
For her part, the Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the US Embassy in Bulgaria, Ms Susan Falatko, noted that the American side values Bulgaria’s efforts to improve the investment climate and emphasised the importance of the bilateral partnership for sustainable economic development. “The election of a regular government in a country ensures stability and predictability, which are crucial for attracting investment,” Falatko stated.
