In the first seven months of 2025, the trade turnover exceeded USD 1 billion
The Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry, Dontcho Barbalov, held a meeting with a Ukrainian delegation led by Andriy Smorodin, President of the national platform “Three Seas Initiative – Ukraine.” The delegation included representatives of major Ukrainian companies operating in the fields of transport and logistics, energy and metallurgy.
Deputy Minister Barbalov emphasised that Ukraine is an important economic partner for Bulgaria and that the Ministry of Economy and Industry attaches great importance to the development of bilateral economic relations, striving for their further expansion.

During the meeting, it was noted that in the first seven months of 2025, trade between Bulgaria and Ukraine exceeded USD 1 billion.
Barbalov and Smorodin discussed the potential for developing bilateral cooperation and implementing future joint projects.
Mr Smorodin highlighted that the delegation includes representatives of Ukrainian companies with experience in carrying out major infrastructure projects both in the European Union and in Ukraine. In his words, Bulgaria is of interest from a logistics perspective and because of its established industrial zones.
The Ukrainian delegation expressed interest in infrastructure projects in which the two sides could cooperate.
The Deputy Minister of Economy expressed hope that, as a result of the delegation’s visit to Bulgaria, concrete projects will be implemented, and confirmed that the Ministry of Economy and Industry remains available to provide assistance within the scope of its competencies.
