Deputy Minister Barbalov: Trade between Bulgaria and Vietnam increased by more than 30% in 2024

Trade between Bulgaria and Vietnam in 2024 increased by more than 30%, compared to 2023. This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Dontcho Barbalov at the opening of a Bulgarian-Vietnamese business forum organized on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Republic of Bulgaria.

Deputy Minister Barbalov emphasised that the Bulgarian side is ready to support Vietnamese companies that want to invest in Bulgaria in sectors where we have traditional advantages and in those that provide high added value and increased competitiveness to the economy. “I hope that today’s event will become an effective platform for deepening bilateral partnerships and initiating new, specific business projects in key sectors of our economies,” he added.

In this regard, Barbalov expressed readiness to support various business initiatives in the form of exchanges of business visits and delegations, organization of business forums, etc.

Deputy Minister Barbalov emphasised that the Ministry of Economy and Industry will continue to work to expand trade and industrial relations with Vietnam as our traditional partner. “We consider the development of bilateral trade and economic relations in the context of Bulgaria’s full membership in the EU and the Schengen Area and the fact that Vietnam is an important partner for the EU and Bulgaria,” he added.

Representatives of Vietnamese and Bulgarian companies, as well as online participants, attended the forum. The event was organized by the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
