Deputy Minister Kostadinov: Bulgarian Wine Has Traditions and a Presence on International Markets

Bulgaria has long-standing traditions in winemaking and today offers competitive wines on international markets. This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry, Anton Kostadinov, during the presentation of the annual “Golden Cellar” awards.

“Recognition from regional and international competitions contributes to promoting our country as a modern wine destination, which is important for the development of the entire sector,” Deputy Minister Kostadinov added. He emphasised that Bulgaria is establishing itself as a producer of high-quality wines, with nearly 365 wineries, whose results are evidence of their success on a global scale. Deputy Minister Kostadinov also highlighted the importance of such initiatives, which recognise the best-performing companies and encourage them towards sustainable development. According to him, they provide an opportunity for objective evaluation and stimulate the development of the sector.

During the ceremony, Deputy Minister Kostadinov presented the Grand Prize “Golden Cellar” in the category “Strongest Social Media Support”. Approximately 80% of the awarded winery’s production is intended for export, with its main markets including the United Kingdom, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Romania, Canada, the United States, China, Japan and Hong Kong. He also presented a special award in the category “Outstanding Contribution” to a Bulgarian company that accounts for over 35% of the country’s wine exports.
