Deputy Minister Lazarova: Bulgaria’s Eurozone Membership Is a Strategic Step with Long-Term Economic Benefits

Bulgaria’s accession to the Eurozone is a strategic step with long-term economic benefits. Joining the common European currency will strengthen the resilience of the economy and provide greater security for businesses and citizens. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Nevena Lazarova in Vratsa, during an information meeting held as part of the National Information Campaign on the Introduction of the Euro in Bulgaria.

The event presented the strategic objectives and concrete benefits of adopting the euro. Particular emphasis was placed on the significance of the new currency as a symbol of economic stability and mutual trust.

“Introducing the euro is an act of trust – in the state, in financial discipline and in the European path that Bulgaria is following. We are already seeing the first positive effects – an improved credit rating and stronger confidence from international markets,” Lazarova stressed.

According to her, the transition to the single European currency must be smooth, transparent and well-informed.

“Bulgarian businesses must have sufficient time and information to prepare,” she emphasised.

The Deputy Minister of Economy noted that the Ministry supports businesses through clarification and methodological assistance.

Lazarova announced that methodological guidelines have been prepared by a working group of the Coordinating Council for Bulgaria’s Preparation for Eurozone Membership. These cover three key areas: guidance on accounting documentation and the transition to the new currency; guidance on adapting information systems; and guidance on dual price display and cash payments.

Also taking part in the event were the Minister of E-Government Valentin Mundrov, Deputy Minister of Innovation and Growth Martin Danovski, and the Mayor of Vratsa Kalin Kamenov. The forum was also attended by representatives of local authorities, businesses and citizens.
