Project Launched for Regional Centre for Digital Solutions and Innovation at Bozhurishte Industrial Park
“The development and modernisation of industrial zones, along with the construction of the necessary infrastructure, are among our top priorities. This is key to attracting new high-tech investments to Bulgaria.” This was stated by Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Nevena Lazarova at an event where the National Company Industrial Zones EAD (NCIZ) presented its project for a Regional Centre for Digital Solutions and Innovation. The centre will be located within the Sofia-Bozhurishte Industrial Park.
The investment exceeds 6 million BGN and is funded under the “Research, Innovation and Digitalization for Smart Transformation” Programme. NCIZ will develop state-of-the-art digital infrastructure to support current and future investors in the park, as well as entrepreneurs, innovators, researchers, and scientific organisations.
The project will be implemented over a 36-month period and aims to support the digital transformation of businesses and enhance the technological capacity of industrial enterprises. The Centre will include a virtual reality laboratory that will enable 3D visualisations of buildings, machinery, and products, allowing pre-investment testing using so-called “digital twins”.
“The Ministry of Economy and Industry, together with the “National Company Industrial Zones”, is actively working to attract investment by providing the conditions necessary for the swift and effective implementation of projects. I firmly believe that sustainable economic growth, driven by innovation and investment in industrial zones, is a fully achievable goal,” emphasised Lazarova.
She added that, to enhance Bulgaria’s competitiveness, NCIZ will work to develop industrial parks in other regions that have traditionally experienced lower levels of investment activity. Special attention, she noted, is being paid to ensuring that these zones are attractive to high-tech and innovative sectors related to digitalisation and renewable energy..
“I am convinced that Bulgaria has all the necessary conditions to establish itself as a technological hub and a leader in the industries of the future. Our country has the potential to attract strategic investors who can help us realise our ambitious vision for economic development and technological leadership,” the Deputy Minister added.
“The Regional Centre for Digital Solutions and Innovation is part of our long-term strategy to modernise the industrial environment in Bulgaria. It will serve as a place where business, science, and technology converge to generate real solutions and sustainable growth. We are proud that our company is a driving force behind this transformation,” said NCIZ Executive Director Angel Tanev.
The event was held in partnership with the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy (UCTM) and gathered representatives of public institutions, academia, industry, and the media.
