In the first five months of this year alone, trade with Germany has already exceeded 5 billion euros
Germany is Bulgaria’s largest strategic partner and the positive trend in trade between the two countries has been maintained in the first five months of this year, as it already exceeds 5 billion euros. This was stated by Deputy Minister Nikolay Pavlov at the opening of the forum “30 years of German economy in Bulgaria”, organized by the German-Bulgarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (GBITC). The forum was opened by the General Manager of the German-Bulgarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (GBITC) Dr. Mitko Vassilev, and was also attended by the President of the Chamber Tim Kurth, the Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov, the Deputy Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bulgaria Stefan Roecken, partners and business representatives from both countries.
Deputy Minister Pavlov stressed that in 2022 the trade between the two countries reached the record 12 billion euros. He recalled that in recent years, serious investment projects of German companies have been implemented, which contributes to the creation of new jobs and the increase of the competitiveness of production. At the forum it became clear that 3,800 German companies employ more than 65,000 people in Bulgaria and German investments in Bulgaria exceed 4 billion euros.
“One of the priorities of the Bulgarian government is to restore confidence in our country as a reliable economic partner and a promising location for investment and doing business,” the deputy minister said.
Deputy Minister Pavlov congratulated the German-Bulgarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce for the highly developed economic and trade relations between Bulgaria and Germany, as well as for the fruitful partnership and cooperation with the Ministry of Economy and Industry. He thanked for the active work of the Chamber in supporting the cooperation between the Bulgarian and German businesses and expressed confidence that with joint efforts Bulgaria will be established as an attractive investment destination, a promising market and a reliable partner.
“I believe that the contacts and trust we have built in the process of our joint work are a solid foundation for our future activities and our work in support of the Bulgarian economy,” said Nikolay Pavlov.
The Deputy Minister assured the audience that the Ministry of Economy and Industry will continue to fully support the development of bilateral relations with Germany, supporting the implementation of trade and investment intentions.
